This hostel is owned by a Brazilian attorney family, very well located in safe area near the Amazon Theatre and ery clean. Whereas
the luxury hotels are located in the Ponta Negra area (Tropical Hotel)
or in Adrianopolis (some flat services), the budget and cheap hotels are
concentrated in the city center, mainly along the Rua JOAQUIM NAMBUCO and side
streets. Some of the hotels are ¨rotativos¨ (love hotels, which rent out rooms
on hourly basis), others are ¨hotels familares¨ (family hotels, which operate on
daily basis only).

CITY TRANSPORT
TAXIS (all use meters) are rather expensive in Manaus, but for longer trips it is possible to negociate the fare. Some examples: Short trip within city center: R$ 10.- Airport - City center : R$ 49.- (official price can be negociated to R$ 30.-) Bus Station - City center : R$ 20.- City Center - Ponta Negra : R$ 40.- To some areas such as Bola da Suframa (Industrial District), Sao Raimundo and Compensa is offered a shared taxi service. BUSSES are R$ 2,00 per trip, EXECUTIVE (air conditioned) VANS charge R$ 2,50 per trip. Some destinations: Ponta Negra : Bus No. 120, leaving from city center (in front of Manaus Port) Schopping AM: Take an Executivo passing the Djalma Batista Suframa Bola : Lotacao (shared taxi) Airport : Bus No. 306 and Executivo (Bus service also during night)  Manaus Moderna Port RIVER BOATS Regional Boats are leaving either from the privatized Manaus RODO PORT (new port) or Manaus MODERNA Port (in front of the fair). Tickets are sold either by sales representatives on the street in front of the port (for a list of reliable agents VIEW HERE) or by the agency in the RODO PORT.  Praia da Lua
Manaus a range of possibilities to cool down during a hot day: Ponta Negra Beach Full on weekends with life music, but the beach is quite small. Praia da Lua Best beach option in Manaus with easy access. Take bus 120 to Ponta Negra (last busstop in front of the Tropical Hotel). From there take the free shuttle service to the David port (estaleiro de David). Small motorized canoes take yoou from there to the beach (R$ 3.- per trip and person). Praia Tupe This beach (nearby is also an indian community) is located 30km from Manaus. Sundays (August to December) are leaving from Manaus Moderna Port dayexcursions in regional boats to Praia Tupe (fare R$ 10.- per person). Balnearios (River Baths) Public river baths are located along the AM 030 (road to Rio Preto da Eva and Itacotiara) and the road to Manacapuru. Option for local families to pass a day there.
